I'm specifically doing tempo runs now to increase my endurance for the upcoming Ragnar Race... it's gonna be super ooooodles of fun!!!! I'm also gunning to place in my age group in our local Bean Run next month... nothing too big. Just a 5K that I think I can accomplish a goal in. I remember when I wanted to place in my age group in a half..... geeeez, what was I thinking?? Maybe someday I'll have the time to train like that, but just not now. So placing in a 5k will do..... I better stop talking about it before I jinx myself and don't do it... that would stink.
Tempo runs do more for me than just increase my speed or help me run longer though... they teach me perserverence... I mean, I'm like that train.. "I know I can, I know I can!" I know, it seems silly, but I really do talk to myself like that when I'm running. "Move it! Push it! This feels soooo great!" The good self talk is great for all of us ladies. Through running I have accomplished more than I ever thought possible with my body. I know I am strong and can do anything I set my mind to.
This morning I realized I'm also setting a great example for my kids.... which added a new awesome bonus to my absolute favorite thing to do personally :)
Scarlett with my running shoes and socks on beside my ever trusty foam roller.... Ahhhh!!! She was running around the house yelling "Running! Running!"
About 5 minutes later I was headed upstairs to get her dressed and brush her sweet little teeth when I found her in my bathroom like this..... she looked at me and said, "Running!"
