Just Peachy

Mom & Dad were here for the past week and we had a wonderful time! It was their 2nd annual summer trip to California while the peaches were ripe on our tree. I think it's a tradition now!  Boy did we ever use them!! Last year I wrote about Mom & I making cobbler and wanted to do a whole blog on peaches... that never happened. But it is now!

Last August Better Homes & Gardens had a great article on 50 ways to use a peach and I have been waiting and waiting for our peaches to try some of them. I passed the magazine around and let everyone pick something.

My personal favorite was the peach pancakes... no photo... but yummy in our tummies for sure! However you make your pancakes, from scratch or from box, just add some vanilla and diced peaches! So sweet from the peaches no syrup even needed. Delicious!!

My Mom picked a peach smoothie made with grilled peaches...it went perfectly with the steak Kev grilled that night! The peaches were so good they almost didn't become smoothies! I have to say for such a great tasting drink, they were incredibly good for you too!

See.... Mom says they're YUUUMMM!!!

Next up was peach salsa - yep, it was also a big hit! The sweet peaches & the hot jalapenos went so well together. We munched on that with some chips while I was working on the next dish....

Peach Ketchup! Now this is the one thing I had made before. I made it last summer with the peach turkey burgers featured in the Better Homes & Gardens article. And I made it again this year with the same....

Last but not least, my Dad's pick! PIE :) Go figure! At first I didn't think it was going to be that great. It was a sour cream crust (which I don't normally do) and it just looked a little bare. But like all of the above, it turned out amazing! I even made a butterscotch sauce from scratch to go with it.... Mmm Mmm Great!

That sums it up for the 2011 Millions of Peaches Blog :) Hope you enjoyed it .... I sure did. But you guys know me.... Sarah is ALWAYS happy making things in the kitchen! Any questions, ask away as I'm always ready to help in the kitchen!
