On March 2nd, 1982 my world changed forever. Don't ask me how it felt, because I don't remember; I was only 54 days old. As a tiny little baby I lived at Seller's Baptist Children's Home in New Orleans, La. For those of you who don't know, I am adopted. -*Hand picked* That's what I like to call it :)- I think it's pretty interesting that a person lives a whole life and doesn't remember SO MUCH of it. I mean, I was there. I was that baby and I don't remember it, hmph. I wish I did. I bet I was pretty excited!! Mom tells me that Bekah went in first to check me out and said she liked me - Thanks Bek! - I like to think they would have taken me with them anyway though ;) Anyway, every year Bek and I both have a birthday, obviously, but we also celebrate the day we were adopted as our "Special Day". Growing up we never really got presents and all that jazz (Although, one year I do remember getting a basketball and being super excited about it!) Mom and Dad just always make sure that on that one day, we remember how special we are to them. How wonderful, I really do have the most awesome parents my 54day old baby self could have ever dreamed of.
This year, I've decided that from now on, it's also going to be THEIR Special Day. Now that I have children I understand exactly how special it all is. They are your world, you would literally die for them. I think this day is equally as special for them. They waited so patiently for God to send my sister and me, so from now on it's their day too!
So, yesterday was a great Special Day. Bekah called me first thing in the morning. Mom and Dad sent me a great card with some pampering dollars in it. :) I had the day to spend with Letty and Kevin took me to Genki Sushi for lunch and got me beautiful flowers & a card. Then he made me a yummy dinner of lobster bisque and butternut squash ravioli with bread & oil for apps! My favorite!! Best of all I got to skype with Mom and Dad at the end of the day. I wrote before about how awesome it has been to have skype and it was even more special last night. I love you Mom & Dad and am forever grateful that God sent you for me.
