Kevin's 30th Birthday Weekend

Well, I did it! For those of you who don't know, my sweetie turned 30 Sunday and I have been planning a major surprise for a couple months now!

A few months back I was really stressing out over what to do for this major milestone. All I knew was that he REALLY didn't want a party and apparently didn't need anything else because "he was happy and had everything he wanted"... Yep, he's hand's down the hardest person in the world to get a present for! So for awhile I seriously tossed around the idea of throwing him a funeral, lol! Yes, I was going to get some black and silver decorations, call a bunch of people, get a  cheap casket thing, line it, and throw ice and a bunch of beer in it! Happy Birthday Kevin! :) He would have been thrilled and I would have followed the "No party Rule". I still knew that was a crappy idea.
Then, one day, out of no where I think..."OMG, I'll fly his BFF Josh here!" Brilliant!!! And I'll have Stephanie make him some cookies!! I'd post a picture, but only crumbs are left! THANK YOU STEPHANIE!! Getting Steph to make cookies was easy peasy, cause she's great like that, but the other would be harder to arrange I thought. I ran it past Josh, who was just shocked I was offering to fly HIM HERE for Kevin's birthday and of course he thought the idea was killer. Easy peasy too! I bought the ticket in the same hour and the surprise was ON!
As the day got closer I was so nervous about HOW I was going to do it. Let's just say I had a million ideas, for the shorter blogs sake, and in the end, all of them crapped out and none of it mattered. The day came and Kev still had NO CLUE, I mean he was CLUUUUUELESS! I said I was off to school and headed out to pick Josh up from the airport. We were both so excited for the surprise part!! I'm a horrible surpriser and apparently Josh is too, so I'd say we did really good keeping the secret for so long! Anyway, all previous plans fell through so I ended up just heading up to Kev's work and getting him out of there early. I say let's just take one car home, so we're chatting and walking to the car and BOOM, out comes Josh! Surprise! Happy Birthday Kevin! He was soooooo shocked, speechless even. :)

Josh & Letty, she really enjoyed him being here :)
Needless to say, Kevin was very happy! We had a great weekend, the boys went surfing Saturday morning and we celebrated Saturday night with some beers, wings, oysters, and Irish music!
The Doolin' Rake @ O'tooles - Kev's favorite! They even sang him a very special Happy Birthday song! I bought Kev this pin as opposed to a REALLY OBNOXIOUS "I'm 30" shirt, he was happy :)
On Sunday, his actual birthday, we all drove around the island, played at the beach, ate shrimp, checked out the NS, kept Letty happy :) and just had a fun day.
Mostly, we did EXACTLY what Kevin wanted to all weekend and I made him all his favorite foods! He says he really had a great time and that's what I wanted. Sometimes it's hard to pull a reaction or major excitement out of Kev and this did, that made me happy :)
