Sarah's NOW Resolution

I am SO mad at myself! In one day -before noon- I have managed to forget TWO important things for my children. They weren't life threatening or anything, but anything of my children's is a big deal to me, because I know it's a big deal to them.
I keep a detailed calendar around all the time as most of you know. I am a planner, calendar keeper, and list kinda gal; both of these things were on the fridge or calendar or both! I saw them all week and kept a mental reminder of them even last night.
Then, this morning happened. It wasn't a crazy morning at all. But this morning my children seemed to have adjusted to the time switch. They both didn't wake up until 7 ish. So, neither did I. Scarlett normally gets me up bright and early... or dark these days and Noah has been waking up at 6. We have plenty of time to eat, dress, hang, talk about the day ahead of us and just have a nice morning. 7ish just doesn't cut it, so I spaced both things and I feel so terrible. This can not happen again.

My plan? From now on I will wake up by physical alarm clock (not children alarm clocks) at 5:30 from Monday-Friday. That gives me some quiet time to myself to prepare for the day before the cute little rugrats awake and to just enjoy the quiet myself! Why is this such a big, scary, ground-breaking deal to me? I haven't used an alarm clock in who knows when. Why? Because the lovely AF used to require me to wake up at unsightly hours, like 2AM or even go to sleep at 7PM to wake up at midnight to come to work at 1AM... you get the point. Needless to say, I don't have a nice relationship with alarm clocks and when I got out I pretty much wrote them off. I do love mornings though, and especially with the kids and I want to make them run more efficiently and most importantly don't want this to happen again.
I feel good about this. I think.

I finally started doing this thing called the sacred 6, where I list the 6 most important things to get done the next day. That for me at least made life less stressful and really helped me get the right things done... then again sometimes you have to cut yourself some slack too :)

Sarah

That sounds like a great idea! I keep a running list of things I need to get done, but somehow I missed BOTH of these! Which just goes to show that you're right- sometimes a little slack is needed. Thanks for the comment :)
